Making Chocolates for Cash

It is called food of the gods,  others call it sinful, seductive, rich, and reputed as an aphrodisiac. What is it? Its fame is perpetuated in books, songs and movies. Chocolate is made from cacao beans. The Aztecs used them for religious ceremonies. Fermented and drunk, it is reserved for priests, nobility and warriors. It is believed to impart wisdom, and physical strength.

There are countless studies made connecting chocolate with health benefits. Cocoa and chocolate contain a large amount of flavinoids or anti oxidants. Cocoa butter and chocolate do not raise blood cholesterol and reduce the blood’s ability to clot, thus the risk of stroke and heart attacks may be reduced. According to a study, a small portion  of dark chocolate every three days is an ideal quantity for cardiovascular benefits.

You can try making chocolates from scratch or start with refined cocoa or bulk chocolate. Experience will dictate later on to shift to a more robust method like grinding your own beans.

What you need:

Molds – you can choose what molds you like to use, glass bowl, a table for your chocolates to dry, chocolates and flavors, oil based only, spatula, and a wooden spoon. When melting your chocolate, try the double boiler method. It’s safer for beginners. Here’s what you’ll do: Fill a large pot with1/4 full of water and heat to medium, place the chocolates in a bowl. Place the bowl on the pot. Stir until the chocolate melts.

Spoon melted chocolate into the mold. Scrape the excess with a spatula, make sure there are no bubbles in your chocolate, tap them to let the air surface. Let it cool on the table and put them inside the fridge to set. When removing the chocolates from the mold, do not touch them as your fingerprints will transfer to the chocolate. Use a plastic glove. You can paint your chocolate with an oil based food paint. Try a double hollow mold.  Put them together to form a a single product. Great for making birds, apples, and other figures that take your fancy.

It’s economical and you’ll have a better product output for maximum profitability.  Chocolates are a great gift to family and loved ones, teachers, co-workers, friends, birthdays, weddings, parties, and anyone else that you’d love to show your love and appreciation. It is not difficult and does not take as much time as one would think. The chocolates come in an variety of colors and flavors and you can be as meticulous as you like. Be creative. Chocolate is versatile so the only limit is your imagination. Most of all have fun making them.
